Oberscheveling is a village in Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The village is located in the northeast of Wipperfürth on the southern outskirts of the village of Kreuzberg. Neighboring towns are Kreuzberg , Vorderwurth , Hinterwurth and Kupferberg . The Krautsiepen, which flows into the Schleise stream, rises in the village .

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate of electoral district 11 (110) Kreuzberg in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

history

In 1263 Oberscheveling was first mentioned under the name "Szeveline" . A knight “Hartlev von Dromere” pays the Cologne Apostle Foundation an annual interest for a property on the Scheveling. The topographical map of the Rhineland from 1825 names the place “Scheveling” and shows three separate floor plans in the enclosed courtyard. The Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1844 uses the spelling “Ob. Schevelingen " . From the official topographic map ( Prussian New Admission ) from 1894 to 1896, the place name Oberscheveling is used.
