Location and description

Oberbenningrath is located southwest of Wipperfürth in the valley of the Flosbach brook on the border with the municipality of Lindlar . Neighboring towns are Niederbenningrath , Ballsiefen , Thier , Abstoß and the town of Unterbüschem, which belongs to the municipality of Lindlar .

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate from electoral district 15 (150) Thier in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

history

In 1443 the place is listed for the first time under the name "Berinckrode" in a directory of the income and rights of the Cologne Apostle monastery .
