The Talsperrenweg is a main hiking trail created at the beginning of the 20th century in the association area of ​​the Sauerland Mountain Association and, like all the other main hiking trails, has the white St. Andrew's Cross X as a signpost , extended by the number 3 at intersections.

Routing

With a total length of 164 km, it leads from Hagen ( Westphalia ) to Biedenkopf ( Hessen ) via Ennepetal , Marienheide , Bergneustadt , Biggesee , Krombach and Hilchenbach .

The hiking trail not only stands out due to its scenic beauty, but also crosses political, cultural, historical and regional borders in many ways.

The starting point is in the Westphalian town of Hagen, the route continues through the Sauerland in the Brandenburg region , with a detour to the Oberbergisch region . Through the southern Sauerland and Siegerland , it then goes to the destination in Biedenkopf in Hesse .

The path gives its name to the eleven dams that it touches. These are, in order from Hagen from the Hasper dam , the Ennepetalsperre , the predust corners of Neyetalsperre that Kerspe dam , the Lingesetalsperre that Brucher dam , the Aggertalsperre that Biggetalsperre and Breitenbach dam .

Between the Ennepetalsperre and the Kerspealsperre , the hiking trail was laid in 2006 over a distance of 22 km. Since then, the route no longer runs through the urban area of Halver , but through the Schwenke district, located approx. 4 km west of the B 229, and then over predominantly Wipperfürth to Kierspe-Rönsahl . He crosses the main hiking route 7 east of the village of Egen , which leads to Halver. In the further course the path leads directly below the barrier wall of the Kerspe dam.
