Krombach [ 'krɔm.baχ ] is a district of Kreuztal in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Siegen-Wittgenstein .

history

Krombach was first mentioned in a document in 1221. Apparently, the place already had a certain supra-regional importance, because the important old long-distance trade route Frankfurt - Soest ran through it . The place is on the Uerdinger and Benrath lines , the borders of the Central German-speaking Siegerland to the Low German- speaking Sauerland .

For 500 years travelers have rested in the “Hambloch” inn. Horse troughs and horse holding bars in front of the inn bear witness to the lively traffic of that time. The 300-year-old “Zum Anker” inn also shows historical traces.

A major source of income in earlier times was the pre-tensioning service, which flourished due to the through traffic: From here, the freight had to be transported north over the mountains of the Sauerland.

Until the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1969, the place belonged to the Ferndorf office .

The now world-famous Krombacher beer is brewed in Krombach .

The name Krombach is derived from Krummer Bach . The village is traversed by the Littfe , a tributary of the Ferndorf .

In the course of the further construction of the federal autobahn 4 and the Hüttentalstraße , which meet at the "Krombacher Höhe" ( Kölsches Heck ), the district of Krombach becomes more important for the Siegerland and the neighboring Sauerland. A natural outdoor pool has existed in Krombach since 1935.
