Kredenbach is a district of Kreuztal in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district of North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The place emerged from individual farms in the districts Lohe (March 8, 1319 first mentioned) and Kredenbach (October 27, 1340 first mentioned) and the Wüstehof (first mentioned 1461).

Kredenbach and the Wüstehof did not come to Ferndorf from the parish of Netphen until 1623 . The former "Loher Hütten- und Hammerwerke", first mentioned in 1489, were also known outside of Siegerland. In 1834 one of the first German coke-fired blast furnaces was put into operation here.

On January 1, 1969, Kredenbach was incorporated into the newly created town of Kreuztal as part of the municipal reorganization . Before that, the previously independent municipality belonged to the Ferndorf district .

Today Kredenbach is mainly home to the iron processing industry of tool making. The region is shaped by world market leaders, especially in medium-sized metal processing.
