Bockenbach is a district of Kreuztal in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Siegen-Wittgenstein .
geography
Bockenbach is located northwest of the city center surrounded by Stendenbach in the north, oaks in the east, Dornseifen and Osthelden in the south, and Altenwend in the west. The length of the district boundary is 7.9 kilometers.
history
A mention of Bockenbach already took place in the oldest diocesan register around the year 1300, in which the place is recorded as "Buckenbach" next to the also named "Stentenbach". In an appraisal register from the year 1461, nine people are listed for Bockenbach.
Belonging to the Ferndorf office , Bockenbach was incorporated into the municipality of Eichen on December 1, 1960 together with Stendenbach . From this time on, the three originally independent communities also had a common coat of arms. Due to the Second Siegerland Act of November 5, 1968, which came into force on January 1, 1969 , Bockenbach was then assigned to the city of Kreuztal as part of the municipality of Eichen. But now Bockenbach counts as a district of Kreuztal. The place is on the Uerdinger and Benrath lines , which together form the language border to the Low German- speaking Sauerland . |
Infrastructure
To the south, federal highway 54 runs around the district as a continuation of Hüttentalstrasse .
