Ferndorf Office
The Ferndorf office was an office in the Siegen district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until December 31, 1968, before the municipal reorganization, it administered an area with nine independent municipalities , which today largely belongs to the city of Kreuztal .
history
Until the beginning of the 19th century, the administrative area of the later Ferndorf office belonged to the Principality of Siegen . Ferndorf was the seat of a court. The office had its origin in the time of belonging to the Grand Duchy of Berg (1806-1813), when the administration in this region was reorganized according to the French model and the " Mairie Ferndorf" in the canton of Netphen ( Département Sieg ) for the administration of the surrounding villages was established. After the Congress of Vienna (1815), Mairie , now renamed the mayor's office , came to Prussia and from 1817 belonged to the district of Siegen in the administrative district of Arnsberg in the province of Westphalia .
On the basis of the Westphalian "rural community order" (1841), the Ferndorf office was re-established in 1844.
The seat of the administration was in Kreuztal (formerly Ernsdorf ). Today's town of Kreuztal only had to give up Buchen (1966 to Hüttental ) and part of the Lohe district of Kredenbach (to Hilchenbach). For this purpose, the middle and upper army , who had previously belonged to the Freudenberg office , were added.
On December 1, 1885, the Ferndorf office had an area of 69.5 km², on which 7857 inhabitants lived.
On December 31, 1968 the Ferndorf office was dissolved.
