Hut Valley
The city of Hüttental is a historic town in the former district of Siegen , which was formed on July 1, 1966 by the law on the reorganization of the district of Siegen from the communities of Birlenbach , Buchen , Dillnhütten , Geisweid , Langenholdinghausen , Niedersetzen , Obersetzen , Sohlbach and Weidenau . By the second law to reorganize the district of Siegen on January 1, 1969, the municipality of Meiswinkel was incorporated. On January 1, 1975 it was incorporated into the city of Siegen as part of the municipal reorganization through the Sauerland / Paderborn law . Today it forms the districts there
- I - Geisweid with the districts of Birlenbach, Meiswinkel, Langenholdinghausen, Geisweid, Dillnhütten, Sohlbach, Buchen, Niedersetzen and Obersetzen as well
- II - Weidenau.
In the city of Hüttental were the university and the steelworks of Edelstahlwerke Südwestfalen, now Deutsche Edelstahlwerke Specialty Steel , two of the largest employers in the region. Until the beginning of 2009, the name of the station Hüttental-Geisweid (now Siegen-Geisweid) reminded of the former town . Today the name Hüttental is no longer in use. Only the name of the Siegen city motorway Hüttentalstraße and the "Haus Hüttental" office of the Siegen district clinic in Weidenau refer to the old town.
coat of arms
Blazon : “In silver (white) in front of a blue wavy bar, a metalworker wearing a blue shirt, hat and boots as well as a black apron, who grabs a red steel block with blue pliers; above a red blast furnace with a black opening between three red factory halls. "
The city's coat of arms was awarded to the city in 1968 by the North Rhine-Westphalian interior minister. It combines the symbols of the coats of arms of the largest former communities Weidenau (industrial backdrop and wavy beams) and Klafeld-Geisweid (ironworkers).
