Niedersetzen is a district of the city ​​of Siegen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

It lies in the north of Siegen and borders among other things on the districts of Geisweid in the southwest, Dillnhütten in the west and Obersetzen in the north. In the northwest, the place borders on the Kreuztal district of Buschhütten and in the east on Dreis-Tiefenbach , which belongs to Netphen.

Niedersetzen is located in the valley of the Setze, which rises north of Obersetzen and flows into the Ferndorf in Geisweid , as well as a side valley. The highest elevation around the place is the Blecherother Schlag with a height of 435.2  m in the northeast of Lowering . To the south of it lies the Dreisbacher Berg with a height of 425.7  m .

history

Niedersetzen was first mentioned in a document in 1418.

Until the municipal reorganization in 1966, the place belonged to the office of Netphen and on July 1, 1966 it became part of the new town of Hüttental . Since January 1st, 1975, Niedersetzen has been part of Siegen.

Infrastructure

Niedersetzen is located on Kreisstraße 27, which leads from Geisweid over the village and further north over Obersetzen to Unglinghausen . District road 30 branches off in the village and leads over the southern height to Dreis-Tiefenbach. The village is connected to Hüttentalstrasse via Geisweid and to the 45 federal motorway via the Siegen exit . The next train station is in Geisweid.

Niedersetzen has a cemetery, a Protestant parish hall and the volunteer fire department . The kindergarten and the former Setzer primary school are located at the southern end of Obersetzen.
