Dreis-Tiefenbach is the second largest district of Netphen in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is 7.4 km² and has 5230 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018).

Dreis-Tiefenbach is about 3.5 km west of the Netphener core city and 5 km north-northeast of Siegen . It is located at an altitude of about 262 to 350  m . The Dreisbacher Berg ( 426  m ) is located near the village . The Sieg flows through the village , tributaries are the Dreisbach and the Zinsenbach . The area around the village consists of relatively large mixed forests and wide corridors.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1239. Around 1300, a mill was mentioned next to the place Dreisbach. In the late 19th century, the place was created by the merging of the places "Dreisbach" and "Tiefenbach". In 1885 the place is still called Dreisbach-Tiefenbach.

In 1469 the "Sankt Leonhards-Kapelle" was mentioned. It was used simultaneously from 1651 and was demolished in 1895. A Catholic chapel in the village was built in 1862/63 and existed until 1953. On July 20, 1881, a storm caused severe damage to the village after weeks of persistent heat.

The Protestant parish church has stood on the Liesch since 1933/34. A Catholic school was built in 1819, which was replaced by a new one in 1928. In 1910 the volunteer fire brigade was established , nine years later the sports club "SV 1919 Dreis-Tiefenbach eV" was founded.

Until the local reorganization , the place belonged to the office of Netphen . On January 1, 1969, the place was incorporated into the large community of Netphen. Since January 2000, Dreis-Tiefenbach has been part of the city of Netphen.

Dreis-Tiefenbach is on the B 62 , which turns into a junction of Hüttentalstraße between Siegen and Dreis-Tiefenbach . In addition, the place has a train station on the Kleinbahn Weidenau – Deuz , which has been closed.

The place has a primary school, three kindergartens, five football fields, eight playgrounds and a sports field. A barbecue hut is also available for celebrations. In addition, Dreis-Tiefenbach has the following social and public institutions:

Attractions

There are numerous parking spaces for hikers around Dreis-Tiefenbach. From there you can hike around the village and in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park .

The " old castle " in the center of the village is an old tongue castle from the 12th century, is located at about 320 meters above sea level and is a good vantage point of the place and its surroundings.

The Pithan house was built in 1715, where the 400-year-old iron hammer's trades lived. In 2003 the Heimatverein bought the house and renovated it until 2006. The association is showing an exhibition on the subject of iron smelting and processing on two floors .
