history

Beienbach was first mentioned in a document in 1299. The place name is derived from Biene (= Bienenbach) and has been spelled differently over time:

  • Beinbach (1299)
  • Beyenbach (1372-1805)
  • Beigenbach (1461, 1512)
  • Beygenbach (1461, 1633)
  • Bayenbach (1657)
  • Beienbach (1522)
  • Beigebach (1727)

In 1768 a village school was built, which was completely destroyed in a fire in 1899 . In 1900 the new school was inaugurated. In 1900, eleven thatched roofs had been replaced with slate roofs . In 1936 all thatched roofs had disappeared. After 200 years of inactivity, apart from the school, a new house was built in 1929. During the Second World War , the old tunnels of the Schnellenberg mine served as an air raid shelter . In 1950 building activity began. In 1954, after 32 years, an inn was opened again in Beienbach. The table tennis club TTC Beienbach existed from 1952 to 1962 . In 1962 a sports field was built. In 1964 rubbish collection was introduced. In 1965 Beienbach won second place in the competition Our village should be more beautiful . In 1966 a cemetery hall was built in-house. In 1968 the sewer was built. Until the local reorganization , the place belonged to the office of Netphen . On January 1, 1969, the municipality of Beienbach was incorporated into the greater municipality of Netphen through this reorganization . From 1976 the expansion of the school as a village community center was planned, in 1978 this was renovated and in 1991 a kitchen was added. In 1979 the sewer system was expanded, and the sewage treatment plant was built one year later . From 1981 to 1984 various historical buildings in the village were renovated in-house. In 1988 the access road with crossing was renewed. The concept for village development and the reconstruction of the through-town will be completed by 1995. In 1999 the place celebrated its 700th anniversary. In 2008 the village got the title Our village has a future at the district level and prevailed against 22 other towns in the district. Once again in 2014 the gold medal was won at the district level in the competition Our village has a future .

Schnellenberg mine

The Schnellenberg mine was created on June 4, 1883 to mine iron ore , lead ore and copper ore . In 1899 she came to Häuslingstiefe in Siegen. From 1903 the mine was sold three times. From 1899 a later 110 m deep shaft was sunk. In 1910 the mine consolidated with the pits Schnellenberg I-IV , Bismark , Kleeblatt , Gutglück , Randomglück and Gutehoffnung from Beienbach and Archfather from Nauholz . On May 31, 1922, it was shut down underground and on October 31, 1923, above ground. From 1955 it served as a water extraction system.
