Herzhausen is a district of Netphen in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in North Rhine-Westphalia with 579 inhabitants (December 31, 2013).

Herzhausen is still today characterized by agriculture and forestry as well as lived ancient Siegerland traditions such as the Hauberg or the Martinsfeuer . The place has an area of ​​5.3 km² and is at an altitude between 310 and 350  m . Mountains in the area are for example the Mannsberg with 469.5  m , the Stollberg with 426.6  m or the Hummersloh with 494  m . The Dreisbach flows through the village , into which three tributaries flow in the local area.

history

Herzhausen was first mentioned in a document on July 12, 1290 as "Herrozhusen".

Up until the end of 1968, Herzhausen was an independent municipality in the Netphen district , then became part of the new large municipality of Netphen on January 1, 1969 as part of the regional reforms . The place has been a district since 2000.

A citizens' association was founded in 2005.

Herzhausen is on the connecting road between Dreis-Tiefenbach and Hilchenbach . Via Dreis-Tiefenbach, the place is connected to Hüttentalstrasse and thus to the A 45 . The bus traffic is taken over by VWS .

Social and public institutions

Social or public facilities are the community center and the rifle house, a barbecue hut, a football field, a children's playground, the AWO kindergarten, the volunteer fire brigade and a cemetery. The chapel St. Anna belongs to the catholic. Parish of St. Augustinus Keppel in Dahlbruch and also serves as a place of worship for Protestant Christians.

The district waste disposal site is also located in Herzhausen. The storage of household waste has been completed and it is still used as a landfill. The delivered other waste is pre-sorted and loaded for incineration.
