Helgersdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1340. There was a mill in Helgersdorf as early as the 15th century. The old school was closed in 1886 and converted into a chapel in 1905. At that time the place consisted of 21 houses. The Sausage Commission has been represented here since 1919.

The Jakobus mine existed in the local area from 1857 to 1937. Although it was closed in 1881, it was in operation again from 1899 to 1900, from 1932 to 1933 and in 1937. Mining rights existed from January 5, 1858. From 1950 the pit served as a water extraction system. The nickname of the Jakobus pit is "Nasser Jakob".
