Kaan-Marienborn is a district in the east of the city of Siegen . It belongs to the Siegen "District III (East)".
geography
The white river flows through the village and flows into the Sieg in Siegen. In Kaan-Marienborn the Breitenbach flows into the Weiß.
In the west Kaan-Marienborn borders on Siegen, in the north on the districts of Bürbach and Volnsberg and in the east on Feuersbach .
history
The district of Kaan was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century.
In 1901 a siding was created with the Eisern-Siegener Railway to connect the Marienborner Hütte, which was first mentioned in 1444. The Gontermann roller foundry, which moved from Sieghütte near Siegen to Marienborn in 1898, was also located in Marienborn. In the Middle Ages there were also two ironworks on the Weiß. The Mocke iron ore mine was in operation between 1847 and 1957 . On September 10, 1927 Kaan-Marienborn was connected to the Siegens gas network.
During the Second World War, 162 of the town's 350 houses were razed to the ground in an air raid by American bombers on February 1, 1945, and Kaan-Marienborn was largely destroyed.
On January 9, 1948, the Kaan community was renamed Kaan-Marienborn . Until June 30, 1966 Kaan-Marienborn belonged to the Weidenau office . 94 percent of the residents of the town voted against the subsequent incorporation into the city of Siegen and even went - unsuccessfully - to the regional or federal constitutional court.

Transport links
Kaan-Marienborn is on the L 719, which comes from Siegen, meets the L723 east of the town and then continues towards Feuersbach. The place is connected to the federal motorway 45 via Siegen and the Hüttentalstraße . The railway line runs through the town in the direction of Hesse , the nearest train station is Siegen Hauptbahnhof .
Sports
On July 31, 1886, TuS 1886 Kaan-Marienborn was founded by 20 residents. The association offers numerous activities such as gymnastics, aerobics, ball sports and athletics and in 2014 had over 400 members. In 2011 the association celebrated its 125th anniversary. The first and second soccer team have been playing for the newly founded 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn since 2007 , whose first team was promoted to the Oberliga Westfalen in 2016 and to the Regional Soccer League West in 2018 .
