The 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn is a sports club from Kaan-Marienborn , a district of Siegen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The first team played in the Regionalliga West in the 2018/19 season .
history
The club was founded on July 1st, 2007, taking over the soccer department of TuS 1886 Kaan-Marienborn, which had existed since 1886. Funded by Christoph Thoma, managing partner of the Herkules machine factory in Kaan-Marienborn, the club was promoted to the state league in 2008 and to the Westphalia league two years later . There the team reached 3rd place in the first season. In 2016, the team finally rose to second place in the Westfalenliga season 2 and won the playoff against the second of the first season Delbrücker SC in the Oberliga Westfalen. Two years later, they were promoted to the Regionalliga West. As the penultimate of the 2018/19 season, the direct relegation followed.
The second team was also taken over by TuS Kaan-Marienborn. Last year she was promoted to the district league B in the old club (2006/07 season) and played in the district league at the time. The team played there between 2011 and 2013 and rose again as champions after the 2014/15 season. Before the 2015/16 season, a cooperation was agreed with the city neighbor Sportfreunde Siegen . Talented young players should get the opportunity in the second Käner team to gain experience so that they can later play in the association league in Kaan or the Oberliga in Siegen. In February 2016, 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn announced their cooperation with Sportfreunde. After a season 2016/17, in which Kaan-Marienborn did not provide a second team, the club reported a reserve in the district league B1 for the 2017/18 season. The third team only existed since the 2010/11 season and was relegated to the district league D in 2013. There, the third-party representation always occupied a place in the top half of the table or in the middle of the table until the third team's squad moved up completely into the second team.
Currently the 2nd team of 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn plays in the district league C.
Specialty
In 2011, 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn started the Der Siegerländer Weg project together with well-known companies from South Westphalia . It enables footballers to combine sporting and professional careers and to have professional prospects even after their active sports career.
