Dietmar "Didi" Schacht (born September 28, 1962 in Duisburg ) is a former German soccer player and current coach . He also runs a football school in Duisburg and Mallorca.
Career as a player
In his youth, Dietmar Schacht played at SV Laar 21 in Duisburg. Schacht started his professional career in 1981 at MSV Duisburg , with whom he was relegated from the Bundesliga in 1982 . He stayed in Duisburg until 1985, before switching to Tennis Borussia Berlin , Arminia Bielefeld and Alemannia Aachen every year after an interlude with the South Korean team POSCO Atoms (autumn 1985) . In 1989 he moved to FC Schalke 04 together with coach Peter Neururer . There he was first the crowd favorite and later the team captain ; In 1991 the fans voted him the “most popular player of the season” after the team had made it to the Bundesliga. The 5-2 success in the following season 1991/92 in the derby against Borussia Dortmund became Schacht's last Bundesliga game. Since osteoarthritis was diagnosed in both ankles , Schacht had to end his career.
Schacht played a total of 22 Bundesliga games in which he did not score, and 228 second division games (19 goals).
Career as a coach
After his playing career, he acquired the football instructor license under Gero Bisanz . His first coaching station was FC Remscheid . He later was assistant coach to Aleksandar Ristić , Pierre Littbarski , Horst Franz and Gerd vom Bruch and was also active as coach of the Duisburg district league team Hertha Hamborn . In 2005 he took over the coaching position at the women's Bundesliga club SC 07 Bad Neuenahr , his first stop in women's football. In his first season he led the team to fourth place, the best placement in the club's history. His contract was then extended to 2012, but on January 23, 2008 Schacht was surprisingly dismissed without notice.
From September 2007 to March 2009 he was also the coach of the German national team for people with intellectual disabilities. He led his team to the 2008 European Championship, where the national team came in sixth. In November 2008 he took the post as head coach at the Düsseldorf district division SC Unterbach . In February 2009 he moved as assistant coach from Pierre Littbarski to FC Vaduz , who played in the Super League , the highest league in Switzerland . After a disappointing second half of the season, Littbarski, Schacht and the rest of their coaching staff were fired. In July 2010, Schacht took over the position of trainer and sporting director at the Westphalia division 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn . For the 2011/12 season, Schacht was the new coach of the Mittelrhein league club SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 . Under Schacht, the club rose to the Regionalliga West in 2012 , from which they were relegated directly. The collaboration was terminated prematurely in March 2015. From July 1, 2015, Schacht was head coach and sporting director at Hamborn 07 . With the "Löwen" he rose to the national league in 2017 , but then stepped down from his position shortly after the start of the new season. A little later he took over as coach at Oberliga side SV Straelen . After only 13 games, the collaboration ended again in March 2018.
On July 1, 2020 Dietmar Schacht will take over the hobby league club Zebras Krefeld.
