history

The previous clubs

Football was played in Delbrück even before the DSC was founded. The DJK Delbrück was founded in 1920 . This club, which is closely related to the Catholic German Youth Workers, only played friendly matches against teams from the region. Women and girls were not allowed in these games. Five years later the football department became independent as the Delbrück ball game club .

The new club joined the West German Game Association and took part in championship games. 1933 was the BVD cup winner of the district Hellweg . In 1949 BV Delbrück came to an end. After a brawl with attacks on the referee at a game on the local Laumeskamp , the club was initially excluded from playing for two years. The sentence was reduced to one year. As the successor to the ball game club, Delbrücker SC was founded in 1950 and had to start in the 2nd district class.

Early years (1950 to 1980)

After two ascents within three years, the DSC had reached the district class in 1953. Six years later, Herbert Neugart took over as coach and led his team to the championship. The decision was made on the last day of the match, when the Delbrückers won 5-1 at SV Paderborn in front of 3,000 spectators and were promoted to the then fourth-class state league. In 1962, the DSC was the penultimate to be relegated. At Spvg Steinhagen, the Delbrückers lost 4: 9. After two runners-up championships behind SC Grün-Weiß Paderborn and BV Bad Lippspringe , they only managed to rise again in 1965.

It was followed by two years in midfield of season 1, before the DSC had to switch to season 5. As the penultimate it went back to the district league for the Delbrücker. In 1970 the resurgence came within reach, but the DSC lost the decisive game against the eventual champions TuS Sennelager with 0: 1. The runner-up remained for the Delbrückers. Four years later, the third regional league promotion succeeded. Under coach Georg Stürz , the DSC held successfully for two years in season 1, before the Delbrückers had to relegate bottom of the table after a renewed change to season 5 in 1977.

Sporting boom (1980 to 2004)

After a runner-up in 1983 behind the second team of TuS Schloß Neuhaus , Delbrücker SC succeeded in advancing to the national league for the fourth time a year later under player- coach Michael Krüger . The highlight of the season was a friendly game against FC Schalke 04 , which was lost 2:14. For four years the DSC stayed in the national league this time, before the team had to relegate again in 1988, one point behind TuS Ahlen . After a runner-up in 1990, the fifth promotion to the state league succeeded two years later. This time the Delbrückers were able to establish themselves in the regional league and played in this division for nine years.

In the late 1990s the Delbrückers became a top team and in 2001 the team was promoted to the association league . For three years the Delbrückers played in the midfield of the association league before the DSC played for promotion in the 2004/05 season under the new coach Roger Schmidt . On the last day of the match, the Delbrückers beat the second team of SC Paderborn 07 3-2, while the competitor SuS Stadtlohn did not get beyond a goalless draw at Rot-Weiß Erlinghausen . Thus the DSC rose to the Oberliga Westfalen.

Oberliga and DFB-Pokal (2004 to 2009)

In the promotion season, the DSC finished twelfth and prevailed on April 13, 2006 in the semi-finals of the Westphalia Cup with 1-0 against VfB Fichte Bielefeld , but then lost the final against Westfalia Herne 4-6. When they reached the final, the Delbrückers qualified for the DFB Cup, where the team lost 4-2 to SC Freiburg in the first round after a 2-1 lead in the meantime . Guerino Capretti and Ansgar Kuhn scored the Delbrück goals in front of 2,355 spectators. In the 2007/08 season they met again in the semi-finals of the Westphalia Cup on VfB Fichte Bielefeld, but were eliminated 5-6 on penalties .

Meanwhile, the team came ninth in both the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. After the dissolution of the Oberliga Westfalen, the Delbrückers qualified in 2008 under coach Jörg Bode for the newly created NRW league. However, this turned out to be a number too big for the club, which had to relegate as bottom of the table in the Westphalia League. At Germania Dattenfeld the DSC lost 1: 8.

Present (since 2009)

The Westphalia league season 2009/10 was marked by the relegation battle. With two points ahead of the first relegated Borussia Emsdetten , the DSC was able to prevent further relegation. In the following years the Delbrückers were able to establish themselves in the midfield of the Westphalia League. In 2012, the team under coach Alfons Beckstedde missed qualifying for the re-established Oberliga Westfalen in seventh place. Fifth would have been enough, the table sixth identified another climber.

In 2016 under coach Guerino Capretti runner-up behind SC Hassel . The team from Delbrück lost 4-1 in the decider for the third promoted player against 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn in the neutral Sprockhövel and stayed in the Westphalia division.

environment

Stadion

The Delbrücker SC plays its home games in the stadium at Laumeskamp , which offers space for 3,000 spectators. The stadium is located on Boker Strasse south of Bundesstrasse 64 . The area has been in use since 1929, before the DSC predecessor BV Delbrück played on various fields. On May 8, 2002, the main grandstand with 400 covered seats was opened. The grandstand cost around 100,000 euros and was 95 percent financed by sponsors and donations. Two additional wooden stands for a total of 1,400 seats were set up for the DFB Cup match against SC Freiburg. The game is played on natural grass , which is surrounded by an ash track. The cinder track runs south of the playing field behind the grandstand. There is also an artificial turf field east of the stadium . In the meantime the stadium was called AM-Stadion .
