Career

society

Eilhoff began his footballing career in 1990 at Delbrücker SC , before moving to TuS Paderborn-Neuhaus in 1994 . At the age of 14, Eilhoff went to Arminia Bielefeld in 1996 . There he had been a member of the professional squad since 2000 and made his first appearances in the 2000/01 season when Arminia played in the 2nd Bundesliga ; He made his professional debut on October 20, 2000 in a goalless draw on matchday nine against SV Waldhof Mannheim with his substitution in the 63rd minute for Goran Ćurko . However, Eilhoff could never prevail against the goalkeeper Mathias Hain and came to only four league appearances until 2006; including two in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season .

Therefore, he became the 2006/07 season for two years in the second division TuS Koblenz on loan, where he was from the winter break 2006/07 goalkeeper and up to a Game of all other. For the 2008/09 season he returned to Arminia Bielefeld. There Eilhoff benefited from an injury to the first goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez and played a large part of the first half of the season in the Arminen goal. Because of his convincing performance, Eilhoff remained the first choice even after Fernandez had recovered. Not least for this reason, he extended his contract with Arminia by two years until 2011 in February 2009. Even after relegating to the 2nd Bundesliga in May 2009, Eilhoff remained loyal to the club. After the desperate 2010/2011 season , Eilhoff announced his departure in the second half of the season.

On June 9, 2011, he signed a one-year contract with the second division promoted Dynamo Dresden . At the Elbe cities Eilhoff had prevailed at the beginning of the 2011/12 season in the competition against the promotion goalkeeper Benjamin Kirsten . However, he suffered a severe capsule injury in his left middle finger in the second game of the season against Hansa Rostock , but continued to play for the time being. After conceding 18 goals in the first nine league games, Eilhoff lost his regular place in the Dynamo goal to Wolfgang Hesl, who was signed up . He then did not play a single game for Dynamo Dresden. At the end of the season, the club announced that Eilhoff's contract would not be extended.

Due to his finger injury in the summer of 2011, Eilhoff had to end his career prematurely as a sports invalid .

National team

Eilhoff, who was part of the squad of the German U-16 national team, took part as a substitute goalkeeper with the U-17 national team at the 1999 World Cup in New Zealand . When the regular goalkeeper Jan Schlösser suffered an injury in the second round match against the Australian team , Eilhoff was substituted on in the 43rd minute, but could not prevent the German team from losing 2-1. In the 0-0 draw against the Brazilian selection in the last group game, Eilhoff was elected Man of the Match . Nevertheless, he retired with the German selection as third in the group after the preliminary round.

In 2009, after good performances in the Bundesliga, he was briefly considered a candidate for the German senior national team. It was speculated that Eilhoff would be nominated for the trip to Asia at the end of May 2009.
