Bundesliga 2007/08

The 2. Bundesliga 2007/08 began on 10 August 2007 and ended on 18 May 2008. This season than last year relegated from the Bundesliga of 1. FSV Mainz 05 , Alemannia Aachen and Borussia Moenchengladbach represented. The promoters are SV Wehen and TSG Hoffenheim from the Regionalliga Süd , as well as FC St. Pauli and VfL Osnabrück from the Regionalliga Nord .

For the 2007/08 season, two clubs changed their names: SV Wehen was now called “SV Wehen Wiesbaden” to draw attention to the new venue. And from this season on, TSG Hoffenheim also played under a different abbreviation of their name, namely "1899 Hoffenheim".

Borussia Mönchengladbach was the first to be promoted to the Bundesliga, beating SV Wehen Wiesbaden 3-0 on matchday 32. On the same day, the relegation of Carl Zeiss Jena was sealed by a 5-0 defeat at FC Erzgebirge Aue . On the 33rd matchday, 1. FC Köln were able to make their promotion to the Bundesliga perfect with a 2-0 win against 1. FSV Mainz 05 . In addition, the relegation of FC Erzgebirge Aue and SC Paderborn 07 was determined on this match day . A draw was not enough for both of them. Third promoted team was Hoffenheim in 1899 with a 5-0 win against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on matchday 34, while Kickers Offenbach was relegated to the third division as the fourth club.

The performance of the newcomers was particularly remarkable: All four clubs were able to keep their class, and in 1899 Hoffenheim even made it through to the Bundesliga.
