Félix Alexander Borja Valencia (born April 2, 1983 in San Lorenzo , Esmeraldas ), nickname Canguro ("the kangaroo"), is an Ecuadorian football player .
Club soccer
Borja played in the youth of CD El Nacional from the Ecuadorian capital Quito and came in 2001 for the first time in the first team that became runner-up in the same year. The bouncy striker with a strong header scored four goals in his first six appearances. After that he was part of the tribe for years; In 2005 he won the league final and the championship with the team. He scored 26 goals in his most successful year to date, making him the second top scorer in the league overall and top scorer of the Apertura season with 21 goals.
For the 2006/07 season he moved to Olympiacos in the first Greek league, where he scored seven goals in 38 appearances. After the Argentine striker Cristian Raúl Ledesma was signed there, Borja initially switched to 1. FSV Mainz 05 on loan in August 2007 . In January 2008 he switched completely and was tied until 2011. After he was sorted out at Mainz 05 before the season and had not received a shirt number for the 2010/11 season, he trained with the second team. During the winter break he moved to the Mexican first division club Puebla FC after half a year without match practice . There he received a half-year contract from 2011.
After his contract expired, he moved to league rivals CF Pachuca .
National team
Félix Borja has been playing for his home country Ecuador since the U17, took part in the Junior World Cup in 2001 and was nominated for the senior national team in the same year . After that he was in the squad several times, but it wasn't until August 17, 2005 that he made his debut on the field and also played in the other games in preparation for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He was in Ecuador's squad for the World Cup and played the first half of the third group game against Germany. He also took part in the 2007 Copa América tournament.
