B-Junior Bundesliga 2007/08

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The B-Junioren-Bundesliga 2007/08 was the first season of the B-Junioren-Bundesliga .

It was played in the North / Northeast, South / Southwest and West squadrons based on the model of the A-Junioren-Bundesliga , which was introduced in 2003 . At the end of the season, the three season winners and the runner-up of the south / south-west season played for the German B-youth championship. The semi-finals were played back and forth, the final in one game. The three last-placed teams of the three seasons relegated to the subordinate leagues.

The first title holder of the B-Junioren-Bundesliga was TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , which prevailed in the final against Borussia Dortmund . Dortmund lost the final of the youth championship for the third time in a row .

Season north / northeast

B-Junioren-Bundesliga 2007/08 (North / Northeast relay)

By the winter break after 13 games, a three-way battle for a place in the finals between Hertha BSC, Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg emerged, with autumn champions Hertha being able to increase the lead on second place to up to seven points at the beginning of the second half. On the 22nd matchday, however, VfL Wolfsburg ousted Hertha from the top of the table, while Bremen lost contact with both teams. On the last day of the match, Wolfsburg and Hertha were tied for first and second place, although Wolfsburg would have qualified for the finals due to the better goal difference. But while Wolfsburg won the last game 2-0 in Hamburg, Hertha overtook Wolfsburg with a 5-1 win over Osnabrück due to the goal difference, which now speaks for Hertha, and thus took part in the final round.

Braunschweig in particular caused a negative sensation among the relegated teams from Dresden, Leipzig and Braunschweig, as the team only managed one away win at Holstein Kiel on matchday 11, while not a single win in their own stadium and only minor successes with a draw against Hertha and Rostock, among others were achieved. Leipzig, too, showed itself to be relegated early in the season, while Dresden played on the last day of the game on a non-relegation place for relegation, but was ultimately overtaken by Holstein Kiel and thus had to accept relegation to the regional league.

Season south / southwest

B-Juniors-Bundesliga 2007/08 (Relay South / Southwest)

Bayern Munich, as the reigning German B youth championship, only finished sixth in the final table, while the entire season was dominated by the teams from Hoffenheim and Kaiserslautern. From the ninth matchday onwards, they consistently occupied places one and two in the table and finally qualified for the final round of the German championship.

The SG Rosenhöhe from Offenbach could not achieve a single point win up to and including the 24th match day. The team still won the last two games against the relegated team from Regensburg and 1. FC Saarbrücken, but from the first to the last matchday they occupied the last place of the season and finally relegated to the subordinate leagues. The relegated Stuttgarter Kickers and Jahn Regensburg had fought in particular with the teams of SC Freiburg and from 1860 Munich to stay in the league, but Freiburg achieved safe non-relegation on the penultimate and 1860 Munich on the last match day.

Season West

B-Juniors-Bundesliga 2007/08 (Relay West)

Already at the winter break after 13 match days, Borussia Dortmund was eight points ahead of the runner-up at the top of the table and only had to give up points when they lost to Preußen Münster. In the second half of the season Dortmund played less successfully with four defeats and two draws, but reached the final round of the German championship with a nine point lead over their pursuers.

After the first half of the season, Preußen Münster and Bonner SC were in the bottom of the table with just seven points each, while Düsseldorf's third relegation place was occupied with eleven and Wattenscheid's first non-relegation place with 13 points. The Münster team then managed to collect 22 points in the second half of the season and to distance themselves from the relegation battle, while Düsseldorf and Wattenscheid only earned seven points in the entire second half of the season, dropped to the bottom of the table and finally relegated. With 18 points in the second half of the season up to and including the 24th matchday, the Bonner SC kept their chance of staying up. The race to catch up should not pay off, however, and the club was relegated to the lower leagues as the third team from the season.
