family

Álvarez is the son of a Spaniard and a German-Italian. His father's family emigrated from Spain to Germany and settled in the Main-Kinzig district ( Hesse ). His father Julio Álvarez (* 1959) played for FSV Frankfurt , among others , and his uncle is the former Spanish football player and today's coach Antonio Álvarez .

After VfL Osnabrück's game of the season against Holstein Kiel on June 21, 2020 (4: 1), in which VfL secured second division relegation, Álvarez married his girlfriend Helena in the Bremer Brücke stadium .

Career

societies

Álvarez, who has been a striker since he was young, began his footballing career at the age of four at FSV 08 Neuberg , for whom he was active until 2002. From TSV 1860 Hanau he moved to the youth department of Kickers Offenbach in 2005 , for which he played until 2007 and from there made the jump to the German U16 national team. In the summer of 2007, Álvarez moved to Eintracht Frankfurt .

The right-footer, who was awarded a contract by Eintracht until the summer of 2012 and was then part of the extended squad of the German U18 national team , played 17 times for the second team of Eintracht in the Regionalliga Süd from 2009 to January 2011 , whereby he scored ten goals. On January 30, 2010, he made his Bundesliga debut against 1. FC Köln . However, he was denied a regular place. Michael Skibbe , then coach of Frankfurt Eintracht, made it clear that Álvarez would not have a chance. During the winter break of the 2010/11 season , Álvarez moved to the third division team of the German record champions FC Bayern Munich . There he was not used in the attack, but in defensive midfield or on the right side of defense. The second team of FC Bayern was relegated to the Regionalliga Süd in the end. Álvarez returned to Frankfurter Eintracht for the 2011/12 season, which had meanwhile been relegated from the Bundesliga. On June 5, 2012, he signed a two-year contract with the Stuttgarter Kickers .

On May 28, 2014, the third division VfL Osnabrück signed him , with whom he received a contract valid until June 30, 2016. In the 2015/16 season he was Osnabrück's top scorer with ten goals. In the game against Chemnitzer FC in May 2016, Álvarez tore a cruciate ligament. After the injury, he was unable to agree to an extension of his contract with VfL and left the club during the 2016 summer break. On December 19, 2016, it was announced that Álvarez was transferring to Dynamo Dresden on a free transfer and will sign a contract there until 2018.

After another injury and only five missions in Dresden, he returned to VfL Osnabrück in August 2017. In the 2018/19 season , Álvarez was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with VfL and was again the team's top scorer with eleven goals. His contract, which was valid until 2019, was extended through promotion to June 2020. In the 2019/20 season , Álvarez managed to stay in the 2nd division with VfL Osnabrück.

The attacker refused a further extension in January 2020 in order to move to Poland to the first division club KS Cracovia after the 2019/20 second division season .

National team

Álvarez played three times for the German U16 national team; for the first time on September 22nd, 2006 in Rotenburg / Wümme in a 2-1 victory over Northern Ireland when he came on for Toni Kroos in the 41st minute . Two days later, in Schneverdingen, he scored the 2-0 goal in a 4-0 win over the same selection and thus his first international goal. His last game in this selection he completed on May 30, 2007 in Berlin in a 1-0 victory over France. He was used four times for the U17 selection ; for the first time on February 15, 2008 in Troisdorf in a 2-0 victory over Scotland, against which he also scored the 1-0 winner in the 80th minute two days later in Euskirchen. He played his last appearance on March 18, 2008 in Lissywoollen in a 2-0 victory over the selection of Greece as part of the qualification for the U17 European Championship .
