With the A-youth (U-19) he won the DFB-Juniors-Club Cup in 2011 and 2012 . From summer 2012 he was a regular player in the Freiburg regional league team . Due to seven goals in 19 games of the second team, he was nominated by coach Christian Streich for the Bundesliga team for the home game on matchday 34 against FC Schalke 04 , which was lost 2-1 and where the youngster surprisingly found himself in found the starting eleven. After 64 minutes he was replaced by Ivan Santini . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on October 18, 2014 (8th matchday) in the 1: 2 defeat in the home game against VfL Wolfsburg with the goal of the final score in the 90th minute.

On January 7, 2015, Kerk switched to the 2nd Bundesliga for 1. FC Nürnberg on loan until June 30, 2016 . He made his debut in the Nuremberg jersey on February 8, 2015 (20th match day) in the 1: 2 defeat against FSV Frankfurt . He scored his first league goal two game days later on February 22, 2015, when he scored the final score in the 3-1 win against Fortuna Düsseldorf shortly before the end.

After the end of the loan period, he also switched to 1. FC Kaiserslautern on loan for the 2016/17 season , for whom he played in 19 games and scored one goal.

For the 2017/18 season he switched back to 1. FC Nürnberg and tore an Achilles tendon on the third match day of the season, which is why he had to pause the rest of the season. Nevertheless, he was runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga 2018 with Nuremberg and was promoted to the Bundesliga . In 2018 he was used twice in the second team of the FCN in the regional league . After the Bundesliga relegation with Nuremberg in 2019, Kerk couldn't get past Nikola Dovedan and Robin Hack on the wings , while captain Hanno Behrens was preferred to him in midfield . With the club he had to go into relegation, but was able to prevail against Ingolstadt there.

For the 2020/21 season, the Swabian moved to league rivals VfL Osnabrück and signed a two-year contract there.

National team

For the U18 and U19 teams of the DFB , Kerk played a total of 18 international matches with eight goals. For the U20 national team he played for the first time on September 6, 2013 in Pfullendorf , which defeated Poland 2-0 in an "international game" (with Italy , Poland and Switzerland ). Kerk scored the 2-0 final score.
