Marc Heider (born May 18, 1986 in Sacramento , California , USA ) is a German soccer player . He grew up in Recke in North Rhine-Westphalia . Heider mostly plays in the center of the storm, but can also be used in the outer positions.

Career

Heider began his career at TuS Recke and in 2003 moved to the youth department of VfL Osnabrück , where he signed his first professional contract in January 2006. In the 2005/06 season he was able to achieve two goals in 16 games for the professional team in the Regionalliga Nord , for the second team, which played in the Oberliga Nord , he scored an impressive 18 goals in 25 games.

Due to his strong performance, he moved to Werder Bremen II in the Regionalliga Nord for the new season , where he scored six goals this season straight away in his debut season. A year later he scored nine goals. The third league was founded for the 2008/09 season , for which Werder Bremen II qualified. This year he was unable to confirm the performances from previous years and had only scored one goal at the end of the season, which is why he switched to the promoted Holstein Kiel in the new season.

In Kiel, Heider did not manage to gain a regular place in the first year, which is why he temporarily played for the second team from Holstein Kiel, which played in the Schleswig-Holstein League . In the third division he only scored two goals and after only one year he was relegated back to the Regionalliga Nord with his team. In the 2010/11 season he made his breakthrough under coach Thorsten Gutzeit. He made his way into the starting line-up in preparation, but benefited from the injury to regular Tim Wulff. In the first half of the season the striker achieved a good yield with seven goals, which he was able to increase with eleven more goals in the second half of the season. Heider came to 30 games this season, in addition to the 18 goals of the season, he also put eleven goals on his teammates (a rate of 0.96 points per game). The team finished the season in 6th place, but won the Schleswig-Holstein Cup final against arch rivals VfB Lübeck and thus qualified for the DFB Cup .

Marc Heider extended his contract with Holstein Kiel, which expired at the end of the season, even though he had offers from the 3rd division and the 2nd Bundesliga . With nine goals in the first half of the 2011/12 season, Heider was again Kiel's top scorer and won the regional league's autumn championship with the club. In the 2011/12 DFB Cup , the attacker and his club achieved victories a. a. the quarter-finals via MSV Duisburg and Mainz 05 . After the end of the 2015/16 season , in which he scored three goals, Heider was released from his contract with Holstein Kiel, despite his contract that ran until 2017.

Just a few days later, shortly after his 30th birthday, the return of the striker to his first professional club VfL Osnabrück became known. Heider signed a two-year contract there. Because of the involvement in a manipulation attempt in the run-up to the last VfL season game 2016/17 against SC Paderborn 07, which came from Tobias Willers and in which Addy-Waku Menga was also involved, Heider was charged by the DFB sports court during the summer break of 2017 "Unsportsmanlike conduct" sentenced to four games and a fine of 2000 euros. His contract was extended by one year in 2018 through a contract option. During the summer break of 2018, Heider was chosen by coach Daniel Thioune as the new team captain of the purple-white team. In January 2019, he received another contract extension, this time until June 2021, and in the following spring rose to the 2nd Bundesliga as champions with VfL.
