Konstantin Engel ( Kazakh Константин Энгель , * 27 July 1988 in Karaganda , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a German - Kazakh football players . He is under contract with VfL Osnabrück .

Career

Engel started his career at Viktoria Georgsmarienhütte and moved to VfL Osnabrück in 2004 . First he was used there for the second team in the football league . At the game against Holstein Kiel in the 2006/07 season he was used for the first time in the first team; the game ended 3-2 for VfL. On August 15, 2008 Engel made his professional football debut against FC St. Pauli . On May 1st, 2009 he scored his first professional goal in a 1-0 away win against SV Wehen Wiesbaden . After the third division championship in 2010 , he played with the club again in the second division in 2010/11 . The VfL rose as table-16. and after losing relegation against Dynamo Dresden after only one year.

Engel then moved to FC Energie Cottbus for the 2011/12 season , where he signed a two-year contract. There he met his former coach from Osnabrück, Claus-Dieter Wollitz . For the 2013/14 season, Engel left the club after unsuccessful negotiations to extend the contract.

On September 12, 2013 he was signed by FC Ingolstadt 04, with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga as a second division champion in the 2014/15 season . In this he made his debut on August 15, 2015 (1st matchday) in a 1-0 win in the away game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 .

After his contract ended in the summer of 2016, Engel left Ingolstadt and switched to the Kazakh champions FK Astana . He returned to Germany after six months in Kazakhstan due to a lack of a player's license and therefore not a single competitive game.

On January 27, 2017, Engel signed a contract with his former club VfL Osnabrück, which will run until 2021. In August 2017, he fell ill with a thrombosis in his arm and was subsequently absent until the end of 2017. On the 34th matchday of the 2018/2019 season , Engel was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with VfL, making promotion with the club for the second time since 2010. In the semi-final of the Lower Saxony Cup 2018/19 at SV Drochtersen / Assel on April 24, 2019, Engel broke his tibia and fibula in a duel. For the second half of the following season , the defensive player could be active again for VfL.

On May 21, 2012, Engel was appointed to the squad of the Kazakh national football team for the first time .
