The SV Drochtersen / Assel (officially . Spielvereinigung Drochtersen / Assel eV ) is a football club from the places Drochtersen and Assel of Lower Saxony congregation Drochtersen in Stade County . The association was founded in 1977 as a merger of the two associations TVG Drochtersen and VTV Assel .

history

On April 17, 1974, the first attempt to establish a syndicate from the clubs Turnverein Germania Drochtersen and United Turnvereine Assel was made for the first time. While the already drawn up contract was approved in Drochtersen, Assel turned it down after long deliberations. Nevertheless, in the 1974/75 season, due to the low staffing levels, a joint team of A-youths from the two clubs as JSG Südkehdingen took part in the games of the district league. On July 15, 1975, the youth departments of the two clubs were merged to form the JSG Drochtersen / Assel in order to improve youth development. After renewed negotiations in the spring of 1977, both clubs finally agreed on April 19, 1977 to merge to form SV Drochtersen / Assel .

Due to the rise of VTV Assel in the preseason, the game association started in the 1977/78 season in the district class. In 1985 he was finally promoted to the district league and the athletic advancement began. In 1987 the SV Drochtersen / Assel rose to the Lüneburg regional league and in 1990 they even made the leap to the fifth-class regional league East , but a year later they were immediately relegated to the regional league . In 1997, the club had to go into the district league. With promotions to the regional league in 2001 and the then fifth-class Niedersachsenliga Ost in 2005, Drochtersen / Assel played in the Oberliga Niedersachsen from 2008 , from which they had to be relegated once in 2011. In 2012 the direct resurgence succeeded.

A year later, the club hit the headlines after the club's president and patron, Rigo Goossen, filed a voluntary disclosure for unpaid social security contributions. Goossen, who works full-time as a tax advisor in nearby Stade , then paid a six-figure sum to avoid legal proceedings.

In 2015 , three game days before the end of the season, the Lower Saxony Oberliga succeeded as champions in promotion to the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord .

2015/16 season

In the first regional league season, the game association finished fourth at the end of the season. With the entry into the final of the Lower Saxony Cup 2015/16 , the club qualified for the DFB Cup for the first time . On May 28, 2016, the team won the Lower Saxony Cup for the first time with a 2-0 away win at 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder .

Season 2016/17

In the first main round of the 2016/17 DFB Cup, Drochtersen lost 1-0 to Borussia Mönchengladbach on August 20, 2016 in front of around 7,100 spectators in the Kehdinger Stadium, which was equipped with special stands . The second Regionalliga season 2016/17 was finished in ninth place in the table. In the Lower Saxony Cup 2016/17 , the club was eliminated in the second round.

Season 2017/18

In the Lower Saxony Cup 2017/18 , SV Drochtersen / Assel qualified again for the DFB Cup with a 7: 6 after penalty shoot-out in the semifinals against VfL Osnabrück . The club won the final on May 21, 2018 5-1 against SSV Jeddeloh , so the Lower Saxony Cup was secured for the second time this season. In the Regionalliga, the 2017/18 season ended in twelfth place in the table.

Season 2018/19

In the first round of the DFB-Pokal of the 2018/19 season , the club met the German record champions FC Bayern Munich on August 18, 2018 and lost just 0: 1. Rebuilt grandstands made it possible for 7,800 fans to watch the game in the Kehdinger Stadium .

Although there was talk of moving to Hamburg to the Millerntor Stadium of FC St. Pauli for security reasons, the great demand for tickets and the floodlight system , which is not sufficient for television broadcasts in the evening , the club was allowed to play in Drochtersen at its own request, because the Playing time fell on one afternoon and the DFB had been convinced of the concept of setting up the additional grandstands and other organizational matters for the DFB Cup game against Borussia Mönchengladbach two years earlier.

The 2018/19 regional league season ended in fifth place in the table. With victories against Eintracht Braunschweig , VfL Osnabrück and a 1-0 final victory over SV Meppen , Drochtersen won the redesigned Lower Saxony Cup 2018/19 of the third and regional division on May 22, 2019 . In addition, the club qualified for the first main round of the 2019/20 DFB Cup.

Season 2019/20

For the DFB Cup 2019/20 , FC Schalke 04 were drawn as opponents. The club lost the game on August 10, 2019 with 0: 5, but experience from the other two DFB Cup games allowed the number of spectators to increase to 8,000. In the Lower Saxony Cup 2019/20 , the club lost in the quarter-finals against Eintracht Braunschweig.

Due to the cancellation of the 2019/20 regional league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the club finished the league in fourth place in the table.
