Ashton Philip Shawn Götz (born July 16, 1993 in Pirmasens ) is a German football player .

Origin and family

Götz was born the son of an American and a German in Pirmasens in Rhineland-Palatinate . At the age of six he moved to Hamburg .

Career

In the club

Beginnings

Götz started playing football as a youth at FC St. Georg-Horn . From there he moved to the youth team at SC Concordia . After two years Götz joined SC Hamm 02 , where he acted as a playmaker. In 2008 he joined the youth academy of Hamburger SV . There he played more often in defensive midfield and later as a right-back. In the 2010/11 season Götz - at that time still in the A-youth age - played for the first time in the second men's team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord . He also trained regularly with the professionals. In the 2012/13 season Götz only played one game due to a serious knee injury. He made his comeback in a competitive game on the 4th matchday of the 2013/14 season in the small city derby against the second team of FC St. Pauli . During the season, 23 more missions followed.

Professional at HSV

For the 2014/15 season Götz moved up to the professional squad, but he is still in the U-23 squad. On 24 September 2014 he debuted at the 0: 1 defeat to Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Bundesliga when he coached Josef Zinnbauer , the beginning of the season to be U-23 coach was still in the 90th minute for Dennis Diekmeier substitute has been. During the winter break, Götz extended his contract until June 30, 2017. Götz made ten Bundesliga and 21 regional league appearances.

In the 2015/16 season Götz did not appear in the Bundesliga, but played ten times in the second team. In preparation for the 2016/17 Bundesliga season , Götz completed a trial training session with league competitor SV Darmstadt 98 on August 9 , but was not signed. On the 9th matchday he came to his only Bundesliga appearance in the 3-0 defeat at 1. FC Köln . At the beginning of May 2017 Götz was deleted from the first team's squad together with Johan Djourou and Nabil Bahoui . The reasons given by coach Markus Gisdol were to want to reduce the training squad for the last three match days in order to keep the league. The players were offered the opportunity to train with the second team or a private coach. Götz then joined the training of the second team until the end of the season, for which he had made 14 season appearances by then, and then left the club when his contract expired.

Roda Kerkrade

Götz joined the Dutch first division club Roda Kerkrade in early September 2017 , with whom he received a contract that ran until the end of the 2017/18 season with the option of another season. He had nine missions by November 2017 and then dropped out due to an injury to the abdominal muscles. After the end of the season he left the club.

SV Drochtersen / Assel

After Götz left Kerkrade, he was without a club in the 2018/19 season. In August 2018, he kept fit with the league club SC Victoria Hamburg . In April 2019, a trial session at the third division club FSV Zwickau followed, as well as trial training at the Würzburger Kickers , who also played in the third division, in the summer preparation for 2019 . Götz finally joined the regional league team SV Drochtersen / Assel shortly before the start of the 2019/20 season , with whom he received a contract until the end of December 2019. Götz played 7 regional league games (all from the start) in which he scored a goal, as well as a DFB Cup game in the first round against FC Schalke 04 (0: 5) and left the club when his contract ended.

In the national team

Götz is likely to play for the DFB and - because of his father's origins - for the US association. In February 2015, the German coach of the American national team Jürgen Klinsmann expressed his interest in Götz. However, Götz is not an American citizen .
