Regionalliga 2011/12
3rd division 2012/13

The 2012/13 season of the Regionalliga Nord was the fifth season of the regional football league as the fourth highest division and the 30th of the Regionalliga Nord in Germany. Due to a league reform that has been carried out, there are no longer three seasons of a regional league in the 2012/13 season , but five equal leagues from five associations. Hence the now fixed league allocation of the teams depending on the association membership. The sponsorship of the leagues has been transferred from the DFB to the regional and state associations. The regional league clubs no longer receive television money. An originally planned upper limit of a maximum of seven second teams of the DFL clubs was rejected by the state associations. Second teams from clubs in the 3rd league may play in the fifth division (Oberliga) at the most, while third teams also generally have no right of promotion to the regional league.

Under the regional league, there will continue to be a major league for each of the four regional associations of the North German Football Association NFV (Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein).

Holstein Kiel secured the championship title with 67 points, four points ahead of TSV Havelse . The Kiel team had also secured the unofficial title of autumn champion with 39 points. With the championship title, Kiel qualified for the promotion games to the 3rd league , in which the Schleswig-Holsteiners secured promotion in two games against the Südwest representative and champion KSV Hessen Kassel .

There was no athletic relegation from the Regionalliga Nord. The VfB Lübeck pulled his team back during the winter break from the running game operation since the 1 January 2013 the Regional Court Lübeck an insolvency proceedings against the club was opened. VfB Lübeck was the first to be relegated. The 18 games played by Lübeck so far have been canceled. Some of the games in the second half of the season were played by the Lübeckers with the consent of the opponent as so-called mandatory friendship games . Before the penultimate matchday, FC Oberneuland had to withdraw its team due to an application for bankruptcy. The previous matches were also canceled, linked to the relegation of the Oberneuländer. Oberneuland immediately stopped playing and did not appear on the last two match days.

The second team of Eintracht Braunschweig rose from the Oberliga Niedersachsen . In the promotion round to Regionalliga Nord , Eintracht Norderstedt from the Oberliga Hamburg and SV Eichede secured promotion as champions of the Schleswig-Holstein League . There was no promoted player from the Bremen league .

For promotion to the 3rd division, the master was athletically qualified to participate in the promotion games.
  • Relegation from the Regionalliga Nord
After the end of the season, the three last placed descend into the league. Since there was no third division relegation from the region and Holstein Kiel was able to prevail in the relegation and was promoted to the 3rd division , an 18th place was available for the following season. This was filled with the best-placed relegated team, which allowed SV Wilhelmshaven to keep the class. In the event that the champions had failed in the promotion round and VfL Osnabrück would have been relegated as the only representative of the region from the third division, the fourth from bottom would also have had to relegate to the upper league so that the Regionalliga Nord 2013/2014 would continue in any case will play with 18 teams.
  • Promotion to the Regionalliga Nord
The master of the Lower Saxony Oberliga rose directly to the Regionalliga Nord. In a promotion round, the runner-up of the Lower Saxony Oberliga and the champions of the Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Bremen leagues identified two other promoted teams.
