history

Before the Jadestadion was built, the footballers of SV Wilhelmshaven played in the stadium on Friedenstrasse . In April 1999, the Lord Mayor of Wilhelmshaven , Eberhard Menzel , laid the foundation stone for the Jade Stadium, which was built from November 16, 1998 to July 31, 1999 in just 34 weeks . Construction of the foundation began in December 1998 and the inauguration took place on August 1, 1999 . The construction costs amounted to 6.2 million DM , whereby the then "Gamma-Sportstätten-Betriebsgesellschaft GmbH", later responsible for the finances as economic councilor at SV Wilhelmshaven, contributed 1.8 million DM to the construction costs and above the changing wing on the east side set up a VIP area in which 255 guests can watch the games.

The stadium is owned by the city. A usage contract was concluded with SV Wilhelmshaven, which initially runs for 10 years. There are no restrictions in the contract and the VIP area can also be used for other events.

Before the 2006/2007 football season, the Jade Stadium was expanded in accordance with the requirements of the DFB (German Football Association) for regional league stadiums.

At the beginning of 2008, the floodlight system from 1999 was modernized for 80,000 euros. The new system now has double the illumination with an illumination of 800 lux. The facility was inaugurated on May 23, 2008 with the U-21 junior international match between Germany and Ukraine.
