The women's DFB Cup was played for the 33rd time in the 2012/13 season. In the final on May 19, 2013 in Cologne's Rheinenergiestadion , VfL Wolfsburg beat 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam 3-2 . It was Wolfsburg's first cup win. At the same time, the Lower Saxons won the triple of championship, cup and winning the Champions League . In contrast to the men's DFB Cup , winning the cup does not lead to qualification for the European Cup.

Participating teams

The teams of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga of the past season are automatically qualified. In addition, there are the promoted players in the 2nd Bundesliga and the winners of the 21 regional cup competitions. Second teams are generally not eligible to participate. If a second team, whose first team has already qualified for the DFB-Pokal, or a promoted player to the second Bundesliga wins the state cup, the defeated finalist in the DFB-Pokal moves up.
