Josephine Henning (born September 8, 1989 in Mainz ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
In the club
Henning started her career at TuS Issel . She later moved to MSG Zewen / Igel for a year and then to 1. FC Saarbrücken in summer 2005 , for which she played her first games in the 2. Bundesliga . In the summer of 2007, the team rose to the 1st Bundesliga , but from again the following year. Henning played 21 Bundesliga games in the 2007/08 season , the first on August 19, 2007 in a 1-1 draw at SC Freiburg . With Saarbrücken she reached the final of the DFB Cup , but lost 1: 5 to 1. FFC Frankfurt .
For the 2009/10 season she moved to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam , with whom she won the German championship, the DFB Indoor Cup and the Women's Champions League in the first year . For the 2011/12 season she moved to VfL Wolfsburg . After winning the second German championship with VfL, she moved to Paris Saint-Germain . In Paris she plays alongside her national team colleagues Anja Mittag and Lira Alushi . With PSG, she reached the final of the Champions League in 2014/15 , in which she and her teammates again fell behind against 1. FFC Frankfurt. After she did not play a single competitive game there in the first half of the following season 2015/16 due to injury, she terminated her contract with the capital city club early during the winter break.
In February 2016 she moved to Arsenal Ladies FC . After 10 games in the FA WSL for Arsenal , she moved to Olympique Lyon in December 2016 and returned to Arsenal in the current 2017/18 season, where she ended her career in summer 2018.
National team
On September 29, 2007, she made her debut in the U-19 national team in a 12-0 win against Macedonia in Strumica . At the U-19 European Championship in 2008 , she failed with the German team in the semifinals with 3: 5 n. E. to Norway. In the same year she reached third place with the U-20 national team at the World Cup in Chile , where she was on the field in all six games of the German team. On May 26, 2010, she played an U-23 international match at 2-2 in the USA and came on September 15, 2010 in the game against Canada for her first appearance in the senior team. On May 24, 2015 she was appointed to the final squad for the 2015 World Cup in Canada by national coach Silvia Neid .
In 2016, Henning was accepted into the national team for the women's Olympic football tournament in Brazil. She was used in two of the six tournament games of the German team and won the gold medal by beating Sweden 2-1 in the final . Because of this performance, like all other players, she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf , the highest sporting award in Germany, on November 1st, 2016 .
In her 36th international match against Norway's national team , she scored her first goal on November 29, 2016 in Chemnitz with the 1-1 goal in the 32nd minute.
