The TuS Issel 1952 eV is a sports club from the Schweicher district Issel . He is known nationwide for his women's soccer team , which belongs to the Regionalliga Südwest . The club's women's football division has existed since 1991.

history

The first men's soccer team played their first game in the lowest district class on September 1, 1952 with a 3-2 victory. In the 1954/55 season, the club reached 3rd place in the championship round. In April 1964 he won the championship. In 1978 a floodlight system was built in house. In the same year a women's and a girls' gymnastics group was founded. In 1985 the men's soccer team was promoted to the B class. In the summer of the same year, a new sports facility with changing rooms was inaugurated, which was also built in-house. In 1991 women's football was founded. The men's team has formed a syndicate with TuS Kenn since the beginning of the 2000s and has been playing as SG Issel / Kenn ever since. Until the promotion at the end of the 2009/10 season, the team belonged continuously to the C-Kreisliga during this time. The women's football department, on the other hand, was much more successful in that decade. In 2004 she was promoted to the Regionalliga Südwest and thus to the third division.

In 2008 both the teams from the men's department and the teams from the women's department changed their home. Since then, they have played their home games in the newly built stadium by the swimming pool. The stadium has a running track and seats 2,500 spectators. In 2010 the first men's team, which started as SG Issel / Kenn in the C-League Mosel / Hochwald, was promoted to the B-League under coach Helmut Freischmidt. The 2nd men's team secured the championship in the D-League Trier / Eifel and rose to the C-League. The 1st men's team played in the 2016/17 season as a syndicate under the name SG Issel / Kenn in the district league C Mosel / Hochwald. For the 2017/18 season, the syndicate was dissolved by TuS Kenn. Since then, the two teams have been playing separately again. The 1st team in the District League C Mosel / Hochwald and the 2nd team in the District League D Trier / Eifel.

In the 2017/18 season, the women of TuS Issel were champions of the Regionalliga Südwest. For financial reasons, the club waived the qualifying round for the single-track 2nd Bundesliga.

Former

From the youth teams of the club emerged among others the national player Josephine Henning , as well as the players Antonia Hornberg and Tina Gadziała . In the men's department, the former professionals Dieter Lüders and Harald Kohr already worked in player coaching and coaching roles. His son, the professional soccer player Dominik Kohr , played for the club in his youth.
