history

SC Siegelbach was founded in 1894. The men's team had its most successful time right after the Second World War , when they played for several years in the amateur league West Palatinate between 1947 and 1952 . In 1954 the club was relegated from the 2nd Amateur League West Palatinate and thus temporarily said goodbye to higher-class football. After a short interlude in 1967/68 in the now fourth class 2. Amateur League West Palatinate , the team rose again in 1988 to the league, which formed the fifth highest division after the introduction of the upper leagues at the end of the 1970s. In 1989 the league was downgraded to another class through the creation of the Landesliga Südwest , but the club rose to this division in the following year.

At the same time, the women's team of the club advanced in German football, making their first appearance at the German championship in 1987 . When the Bundesliga was introduced in the summer of 1990, the club was not one of the 20 selected teams, but reached the promotion round to the top division at the end of the season. There she had to admit defeat to TSV Ludwigsburg and was bottom of the table in the three group behind DFC Spöck . It was similar for her the following year, in the 1994/95 season she was at least second behind TSV Crailsheim in the promotion round.

While the men were relegated from the regional league in 1996 and the regional league two years later, the women still managed to regularly participate in the DFB Cup. The team later established itself in the third-class Regionalliga Südwest before the Siegelbachers had to relegate in 2012. Three years later, the rise succeeded. In 2017/18 they were relegated in terms of sport, but could still remain in the regional league because too few teams had registered.
