The Regionalliga is the third highest division in German women's football . Each of the five DFB regional associations West, North, Northeast, Southwest and South has its own regional league relay.

mode

The five regional league seasons are of different sizes. The Regionalliga Südwest comprises 16 teams. The Northeast relay consists of 12 clubs. 14 teams each play in the North, West and South seasons. During a season each team plays each other twice. The five champions and one runner-up determine the promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in three drawn pairings with a return game . The participating runners-up is determined on the basis of a performance table of the regional associations, in which the performance of the clubs in the last three seasons in the first and second Bundesliga is included. The two (in the west, south-west and three in the south) last placed in the respective association, state or major league. This number of relegated teams from the regional leagues can still vary, depending on how many teams from the 2nd Bundesliga are relegated to the respective regional league.
