The FC Ingolstadt 04 (officially football club Ingolstadt 04 e. ) Is a football club from the Upper Bavarian town of Ingolstadt . The club has a women's football department, which has been represented in the 2nd women's division since 2019 .

history

2004–2010: Football in the regional league

The first women's team of FC Ingolstadt 04 started in 2004/05 in the Oberbayern regional league. With the seventh place, the team occupied a midfield position. In the following season, FC missed promotion by one point and came in third behind FC Forstern and SV Schechen. In the 2006/07 season, the FCI again missed promotion to the national league. They took second place behind SV Schechen.

In the following season, the team from Ingolstadt could not confirm their performance and took seventh place a midfield place. In the 2008/09 season they were able to achieve a better placement with fourth place and in the 2009/10 season the FCI only missed first place and thus promotion due to the fewer goals scored.

2010–2019: Rapid rise to the regional league

In 2010/11, the team was promoted to the Landesliga Süd and in the new league, the team remained undefeated and made it through to the Bayernliga. In the first season in the Bayern League, the 2012/13 season, they missed the renewed march and finished second behind 1. FC Nürnberg . In the 2013/14 season, the women from Ingolstadt made it to the Regionalliga Süd with two points ahead of SV Frauenbiburg .

In the 2014/15 season , FC Ingolstadt, as the best newcomer, finished in seventh place and placed midfield. In the following season, the team was able to improve its performance and finished fourth at the end of the season. After they finished sixth in the 2016/17 season , they also finished sixth in the following season. In 2019 , the Ingolstadt team became champions of the Regionalliga Süd and prevailed against Borussia Bocholt in the promotion games to the 2nd Bundesliga .
