Soccer

Women

The women's soccer team in particular is quite successful. Founded in 2004, the first women's team made it through from the district to the association league in the following two years. In the 2010/11 season, the club celebrated promotion to the Regionalliga West , the third highest division in German women's football, as champions of the Niederrhein Association League. In 2007, 2008 and 2010 the team reached the final of the Niederrhein Cup . After a 0: 4 defeat in the first final against FSC Mönchengladbach , the women of BV Borussia 2008 Niederrhein Cup winners with 4: 3 n. E. against Borussia Mönchengladbach . Through this success, the football women gained the right to participate in the DFB Cup competition for women, where they were eliminated in the first round in the 2008/09 season after an 8-0 defeat by the second division club 1. In 2016/17 Borussia was fourth in the table, level on points with third in the table from SC Fortuna Köln. In 2018 , the Bocholt women became champions of the Regionalliga West and again the Niederrhein Cup winners and once again qualified for the first round in the DFB Women's Cup, but did without the qualifying round for the single-track 2nd Bundesliga . With this success, the team around captain Marita Hund achieved the greatest success in the club's history to date. It was also the last season for coach Dennis Kallwitz. Alina Stallmann narrowly missed the top scorer's crown with 20 goals. For the season 2018/19 coach Sammy Messalhki took over the team. This was followed by a 0-2 home defeat against SV Meppen in the 1st round of the DFB Cup 2018/19 in front of 500 spectators. The 2018/19 regional league season was completed with a starting record of ten wins from ten games, before a 0-1 home defeat against Arminia Bielefeld on November 4, 2018 in front of 600 spectators. Borussia was runner-up behind Bielefeld and then failed in the promotion games to the 2nd Bundesliga at FC Ingolstadt 04 . In June 2020 after the 2019/2020 season was canceled due to the Corona crisis, the women have been promoted to the 2nd women's Bundesliga. Thus, the women are going into the 2020/2021 season as a second division.

The men's team of BV Borussia Bocholt played predominantly at the regional league level in the first decades after it was founded. In 2002 and 2007, the team made it to the district league . In 2011 they became champions of the Niederrhein regional league and played in the Lower Rhine regional league for the first time in the 2011/12 season . After two years, relegation followed in 2013, before Borussia 2014 was passed through to the district league A. In 2019, the team rose after several mixed years in the district league A, the highest place was ninth, as bottom of the table in the district league B.
