The Leipziger FC 07 is a soccer club from Leipzig . The club's first women's team played in the Regionalliga Nordost from 2008 to 2010 . The first women’s team is currently competing in the national class north.

history

The Leipziger FC 07 was formed in April 2007 when the soccer department of SV Leipzig 1910 was spun off as a separate club. At its own request, the club took over the men's division of SV 1910 and, on a delegation from the Saxon Football Association, took over the women's division of FC Sachsen Leipzig and the Saxon state performance center for women's and girls’s football in order to apply the requirements of the German Football Association for the SFV fulfill. It was also planned to take over the women's department at 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig , but could not agree with the SFV.

The first women's team rose to the Regionalliga Nordost in its first season and was able to establish itself in the league. In the 2009/10 season they finished first and were therefore eligible for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . The club took part in the German B-Junior Championship three times , with the most successful in 2007/08 with two wins from three games.

After the club was declared insolvent by a presidium set up by the SFV in autumn 2009, many players switched to 1. FC Lok, and the youth center and the B and C juniors had to be handed over to 1. FC Lok. The Leipzig FC 07 was able to avert the dissolution under new independent management, but could no longer be promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga and instead had to withdraw to the State League of Saxony.

For the 2016/17 season, a syndicate between the first team and the women's department of RB Leipzig , which has now taken over the youth center, was planned. The syndicate did not materialize, however, because several FFV Leipzig teams disbanded and their players joined RB Leipzig. Thus there was no longer any need on the part of RB Leipzig for a syndicate. The first women's team therefore continues to play in the national class north. The first men's team plays in the 1st district class Leipzig 2.
