Shams 1 is a solar thermal power plant in Abu Dhabi that went into operation in 2013. 60% of the owners are Masdar and 20% each of Abengoa and Total SA. The operating company is the Shams Power Company. The power plant has 258,048 solar mirrors and delivers an output of 100 megawatts with a solar surface of 627,840 m². When it was commissioned, it was considered one of the largest solar power plants in the world. The construction costs were the equivalent of around 460 million euros .
Shams 1 supplies 20,000 households with electricity.
