The Northeast Women's Regional Football League is the third highest division in women's football in the new federal states and Berlin . The league is subordinate to the northeast German football association .
history
In the 1990/91 season the only official women's soccer championship was played in the territory of the GDR or the former GDR. The top two in the table qualified for the Bundesliga . The rest, together with the top clubs from Berlin, formed the Oberliga Nordost, which in future would be the second-highest division. The first champion was SSV Turbine Potsdam (today: 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam ), which had no chance in the promotion round. The first few years were dominated by clubs from the greater Berlin area. After the second champions 1. FC Lübars also missed promotion, Turbine Potsdam took their chance in 1994 and got promoted to the Bundesliga. Despite a 2: 5 defeat on the penultimate match day of the promotion round against TV Jahn Delmenhorst , the Brandenburg metropolis could celebrate. In the same season, Hertha Zehlendorf rose to the regional league, a club that would dominate the league just a few years later.
In 1995 the championship went to the police SV Rostock (today: SV Hafen Rostock 61 ), which in 1990 as BSG Post Rostock won a GDR championship. In the promotion round, the women from the Baltic Sea were successful. While Potsdam was able to establish itself in the Bundesliga and become a top European team, Rostock had to relegate again after a year. Then the great era of Hertha Zehlendorf began . Four times in a row, the Berlin women, in which the later national players Ariane Hingst and Inken Becher played, were champions. The team conceded only one defeat each year and still set the record for the most goals (114) and the fewest goals against (9), which is still valid today. In the promotion round, the team could not prevail. The last championship in 1999 was quite happy for Zehlendorf. Both the Berliners and FC Erzgebirge Aue scored 51 out of 54 possible points. Three years after the last championship, Zehlendorf was relegated from the league.
The era of Tennis Borussia Berlin followed the Zehlendorf era . The violets were the first club to win the unbeaten championship in 2000. In the same season, the BSC Agrispor provided a splash of color. To this day, the Berlin women are the only club founded by migrants that has played in the regional league. However, the team was too weak and set several negative records. Back to Charlottenburg: TeBe was again the undefeated champion in 2001 and set a new record with 64 of 66 points. The team remained undefeated for over two years, but failed both times in the promotion round. The long-awaited promotion to the Bundesliga was not made until 2002, but after a year the violets were back. In the meantime, the regional league championship went to Thuringia for the first time . The USV Jena became unbeaten champions, but failed in the promotion round on their own nerves. The unikickers lost the decisive game against Hamburger SV on their own pitch .
The 2003/04 season was about qualifying for the new 2nd Bundesliga . Five places were reserved for the Regionalliga Nordost. Once again Tennis Borussia Berlin became the champion, who drew level with Hertha 03 Zehlendorf with their fourth championship. The direct resurgence was missed. In addition to TeBe, Jena, Turbine Potsdam II, Aue and, surprisingly, the newly promoted VfB Leipzig qualified for the new division. With the new league only one club was relegated, which meant that the penultimate FFV Neubrandenburg was able to save itself. A year later, the championship and promotion was celebrated in Neubrandenburg. A year later the 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig became champions and managed to get promoted again. Today's national player Babett Peter played in the Leipzig ranks .
mode
The Regionalliga Nordost consists of twelve teams that compete against each other in the league system . A win is rewarded with three, a draw with one point.
By the end of the season in 2017, the team with the highest points was champions and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . Since 2019, the five regional league champions and one regional league champion have been determining who have been promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in three drawn pairings with a return game. The participating regional league champion is determined using a performance table of the regional associations, which includes the performance of the clubs in the last three seasons in the first and second Bundesliga. If the master renounces his participation or the winner of the games renounces his right of promotion or the winner is denied promotion by the DFB , the loser moves up. If the loser of the promotion round is also denied or denied promotion, no team will be promoted. In contrast to men's football, second teams can also be promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.
Since not all association league champions always strive for promotion to the regional league, there is no fixed mode for determining who has been promoted.
