2nd Bundesliga 2019/20

The 2019/20 season is the 16th season of the Regionalliga as the third highest division in women's football . 65 teams play in five groups for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga or against relegation to the association / upper league.

After the regular season, according to regulations, the five season winners and the second-placed club from the West season should each play a promoted player in three playoff games. Due to the season end due to the Covid-19 pandemic , the DFB decided after the cancellation of the 2nd women's Bundesliga 2019/20 to carry out the next second division series with five promoted players.

North

In the northern relay, all teams did not register for the second Bundesliga. Henstedt-Ulzburg, who was 11 points ahead of the championship leader due to the Corona-related interruption, and Hanover as second placed reason for this with too high a financial outlay. The descent was suspended.

A final decision will be announced on June 25th.

    west

At an extraordinary Bundestag on May 25, 2020, the DFB decided that the 2nd women's Bundesliga 2019/20 would be canceled after the 16th matchday due to the Covid 19 pandemic . There are also no relegation games for promotion, so that all reported clubs are promoted from the regional leagues. The Regionalliga West thus provides two newcomers. If 1. FC Köln are relegated from the 1. Bundesliga , the right of promotion goes to SpVg. Berghofen as third in the table.

The 2019/20 Regional League season should also be canceled with the current status and without relegation. A large majority of the 14 clubs agreed on this; However, this has to be confirmed on a day of the West German Football Association on June 20, 2020. The Herford SV withdrew voluntarily from the league.
