The FC Speyer 09 (officially . Football Club Speyer 09 eV ) is a football club from Speyer . The women's first team played in the third- tier Regionalliga Südwest from 2016 to 2019 . The first men's team rose at the same time to the sixth class Association League Southwest .
history
The previous clubs
FC Speyer 09 was created on April 29, 2009 through the merger of FV Speyer with VfR Speyer . On January 27, 2013, the association Schwarz-Weiß Speyer joined.
FV Speyer was founded on May 15, 1919 as the football department of TV 1847 Speyer and became independent as FV Speyer in the year it was founded. In 1938 the FV had to merge with TV 1861 Speyer to form VfL Speyer . In 1946 the FV Speyer was re-established. The club played under this name from 1952 to 1955 and from 1956 to 1960 in the first-class Oberliga Südwest . From 1968 to 1974 the FV Speyer belonged to the then second-class Regionalliga Südwest .
The VfR Speyer was founded in 1950 as the successor to the DJK Speyer . In terms of sport, the club did not get beyond the district level. Schwarz-Weiß Speyer, on the other hand, was founded on January 5, 1934 as the Post-Sports Club Speyer and in 1962 adopted the name Schwarz-Weiß. The greatest success was the promotion of the B-Juniors to the then first-class Regionalliga Südwest in 2003.
Women
In the first season after the merger, the women's team of FC Speyer 09 rose to the Verbandsliga Südwest, but had to accept the direct relegation. Already in the following season 2011/12 the promotion to the association league succeeded. Two years later, the Speyer women were runner-up in the association league behind FFV Fortuna Göcklingen . The following season 2015/16 ended the team level on points with Wormatia Worms . With a 3-1 win in the playoff, the Speyerinnen became champions and were promoted to the Regionalliga Südwest.
In the 2017/18 season , the Speyer women were runner-up in the Regionalliga Südwest behind TuS Issel . By waiving TuS Issel, FC Speyer 09 took part in the qualifying round for the single-track 2nd Bundesliga . One met in the group on SV 67 Weinberg , FF USV Jena II and Eintracht Frankfurt . After you lost all games, you stayed in the regional league. After the 2018/19 season , the club withdrew the women's team due to a lack of staff.
Men
The men's team also began in the district league and made it to the state league in 2011. After a third place in 2014, the Speyer two years later became champions and were promoted to the Association League Southwest . There the team established itself in the following years with placements in the upper third of the table. In 2020 he was promoted to the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar .
