Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, match operations in all five regional leagues were initially declared suspended in March 2020 and, with the exception of Bavaria and in contrast to the three higher leagues, were not resumed later. In the Regionalliga Nordost, Lok Leipzig was declared champion by quotient rule, in the southwest the table leader and quotient winner 1. FC Saarbrücken. The representatives of the Regionalliga Bayern voted at the beginning of June 2020 to resume play. However, the season will only continue in autumn without the designated leader of the table and club Türkgücü Munich with only 17 teams registered for promotion. At an association day of the NFV , VfB Lübeck is also to be determined as a climber by quotient rule.
