The Azpeitia station was on the mostly disused Zumarrága – Zumaia railway . In addition to the systems for passenger traffic, it included a railway depot and a transformer station for the traction power supply . The museum displays an extensive collection of vehicles, both from EuskoTren and its predecessor organizations' own stocks and from stocks from other railways in the Basque Country. EuskoTren operates both railways and trams in Bilbao and Vitoria , all of which are narrow-gauge . The historic vehicles of the RENFE, however, drove on broad gauge . In order to be able to exhibit them, a track of the Spanish broad gauge (1672 millimeters) was laid in the outdoor area. The narrow-gauge vehicles are on display in the outdoor area and in the large hall of the former depot.

The museum also shows the oldest surviving railway vehicle in Spain, a saloon car from 1876, which the management used on the railway line between Sestao and Galdames , which is part of a mine .
