Regionalliga Südwest 2019/20

The season 2019/20 of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg was the 42nd season of the football Oberliga Baden-Württemberg and the twelfth as the fifth-highest division in Germany. It opened on August 3, 2019. From December 8, 2019 to February 15, 2020, the season was interrupted by the winter break, on March 13 again due to the COVID-19 pandemic , which ultimately led to the termination on June 20.

Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic

The Württemberg Football Association announced on March 13, 2020 that it would suspend play in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg up to and including March 31, 2020. The DFB then announced the final decision of the 21 regional associations to suspend play from the regional league downwards until further notice.

The game commission and the shareholders' meeting of the Regionalliga Südwest granted the right of promotion to VfB Stuttgart II (the league with the highest quotient and eligible player) after a decision on May 26, 2020 . The report from the sponsor of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg was still pending. Final decisions were made on an extraordinary association day on June 20th. Due to the different number of games played, a final table was calculated based on the quotient rule (points scored divided by games played). The VfB Stuttgart II was finally registered for the coming season of the Regionalliga Südwest, due to the elimination of the promotion relegation, the performance of the second best teams eligible for promotion in the three major leagues was compared. The 1. Göppinger SV was defeated in this comparison to KSV Hessen Kassel from the Hessenliga . In addition, there were no relegated athletes.
