The Robert-Schlienz-Stadion is a football stadium in the Stuttgart district of Bad Cannstatt . The 5000 standing stadium was the home of the second team until 2008 and has been again since 2016 . In addition, the A and B youths from VfB Stuttgart play here . The stadium is located in Neckarpark on the VfB club grounds in the shadow of the Mercedes-Benz Arena , right next to the club's office on Mercedesstrasse.
history
The stadium was built in 1981/82 as part of the new VfB club center and was called the amateur stadium. The stadium was given its current name shortly after the death of VfB idol Robert Schlienz in June 1995. On Sunday, June 25, 1995, the then B-Youth of VfB Stuttgart wore this in the round of 16 at the German B-Youth Championship against Eintracht Frankfurt first game in the renamed stadium.
In 2001 received the DFB requirements for Regional games appropriate Stadium a new 400 Lux - floodlights . Since it did not meet the requirements for the 3rd league , the 2nd team of VfB Stuttgart played their home games from 2008/09 in the Gazi Stadium on the Waldau . After relegation from the 3rd division to the Regionalliga Südwest , home games have been taking place in the Robert Schlienz Stadium again since the beginning of the 2016/17 season.
