Regionalliga Nord 2019/20

The 2019/20 season of the Bremen-Liga was the 73rd season of the Bremen-Liga and the 26th as the fifth-highest division in Germany. It was opened on August 2, 2019 with the game of the SFL Bremerhaven against the Leher Turnerschaft . From December 9, 2019 to February 21, 2020, the season was interrupted by the winter break and again on March 13 due to the COVID-19 pandemic . On June 4, 2020, the Bremen Football Association finally announced the premature termination of the season.

Effects of the coronavirus epidemic

The Bremen Football Association announced on March 13, 2020 that it would initially cease playing in the Bremen League until March 30, 2020. The DFB then announced the final decision of the 21 regional associations to suspend play from the regional league downwards until further notice.

Based on a resolution of the NFV on May 22, 2020, the 2019/20 season of the Regionalliga Nord was ended prematurely. In addition, it was decided not to carry out a promotion relegation, as was common in previous years, but instead to allow five direct promoters from the four major leagues to participate in the 2020/21 regional league season . In the Bremen league, only FC Oberneuland had applied for admission to the regional league on time and should therefore advance subject to an approved application for admission.

On an extraordinary association day at the beginning of June, a final decision was made to cancel the 2019/20 season of the Bremen League. Since not every participant had the same number of completed games, the quotient rule was applied based on the last known table constellation (points average per completed game). In addition, no team had to relegate in terms of sport, but for the next season the promoted teams from the subordinate state league should complete the field of participants. The rise of FC Oberneuland , which was the only participant to apply for a regional league license, became effective after approval by the NFV .
