Promotion and German amateur championship
The champions Eintracht Bremen had no success in the subsequent round of promotion to Regionalliga Nord .
The Werder Bremen amateur team took part in the 1966 German Amateur Championship as Bremen representative . The team prevailed in the round of 16 against SC Baden-Baden , in the quarter-finals against Union Böckingen and in the semi-finals against Amicitia Viernheim . In the final on July 2, 1966 in Herford's Ludwig-Jahn-Stadion , Werder defeated the amateur team of Hannover 96 5-1 and became German amateur champions in 1966.
