The 1st Soccer Amateur League Southwest 1965/66 was the 14th season of the third class 1st amateur league in regional men's soccer in the southern part of the state of  Rhineland-Palatinate and a predecessor of the Soccer Association Southwest . The 1st Amateur League Southwest was formed in 1952 by amalgamating the amateur leagues  Rheinhessen ,  West Palatinate  and  Front Palatinate and existed until the 1977/78 season as the third highest league. After the introduction of the Oberliga Südwest in 1978 as the highest amateur league, the league was renamed "Verbandsliga Südwest" and was only fourth class from that point on.

The championship won the previous year's promoted VfR Kaiserslautern . FC Rodalben , FC Dahn , TuS Altrip , VfL Neustadt and FG Dannstadt had to enter the 2nd amateur league . For the following season 1966/67 came as climbers from the 2nd amateur leagues of FK Clausen and Arminia Rheingönheim , as well as relegated from the regional league of TSC Zweibrücken , BSC Oppau and Ludwigshafener SC .
