The FC Bavaria Wörth 1913 eV is a German football club based in the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Wörth am Rhein in the district of Germersheim .

history

Founded until World War II

The association was founded on April 13, 1913. However, the First World War , which broke out shortly thereafter, essentially destroyed any major club activity. After the end of the war, they joined the South German Football Association in 1919 . This was where the first team championship in the C-class finally followed in 1921. A year later, the championship in the B-class was also successful, as was the championship in the A-class another year later. In 1930, the championship in the A-class could be won again, after another championship in 1932 it made it into the district league in 1933. However, after the outbreak of World War II, gaming operations largely came to a standstill.

Post-war period until 1990s

After the end of the war, the club was merged with the handball and gymnastics clubs. However, this connection was dissolved again in 1950. In 1953 as well as in 1956 the championship in the A-class succeeded again, in 1960 the promotion to the 2nd amateur league followed. As early as 1962, the promotion to the third-class 1st Amateur League Southwest should be achieved. In the first season they finished 13th with 25:35 points. Although they were able to position themselves in the 1964/65 season with 36:32 points in sixth and in 1965/66 with 43:25 points even in third place, at the end of the 1966/67 season they could no longer save themselves and rose again with 19:49 points over the 17th place. In 1975, the relegation to the A-class should follow. At the end of the season, things went even further down to the B-Class. From this, however, the championship was promoted again in 1993 and in 1995 the championship in the A-class should also succeed. Another year later, the team was also champion in the district league Vorderpfalz. Until the 1999/2000 season you could then hold on to the national league.

Current time

In 2002 they reached the championship in the district class again and thus returned to the district league. After the 2003/04 season, however, they rose from this with 19 points over 15th place. After the 2005/06 season, with only 16 points, the team went down again to the Südpfalz district league, where the team won the championship with 71 points in the following season and was thus able to make clear the direct promotion. Back in the district class, however, a single-digit place in the table could never be achieved, at the end of the 2009/10 season, with 25 points above 16th and thus last place, relegation was due again. Right at the end of the next season, the FC landed in second place with 64 points and was able to prevail after the return leg and the necessary play-off against SV Klingenmünster and return to the district class again. For the 2013/14 season, this league then became the A-class from which the club had to relegate again at the end of the 2014/15 season (this time to the B-class). Only after the 2016/17 season won the championship again with 60 points and returned to the A-Class, so the team continues to play in this league to this day.
