The association for physical exercises 1907 Neustadt e. V. , also known as VfL Neustadt / Wine Route (short: VfL Neustadt ) is a football club from the Palatinate Neustadt an der Weinstraße (the second highest class) played in the mid-1930s in the county Class Palatinate. In the immediate post-war period, as well as a season in the early 1980s, the club belonged to the highest or third highest division, the Oberliga Südwest .

family tree

VfL Neustadt was created in 1928 from the merger of the Neustadt clubs FC Pfalz 1907 , SV Olympia 1913 and Germania 1926 . After the forced dissolution after the Second World War, VfL was re-established on February 16, 1946.

Sporting development

VfL only gained supraregional importance after the Second World War. From 1947 to 1952, the Palatinate played in the Oberliga Südwest , where they always ended up in the secured midfield apart from the year of relegation. The best placement was fifth in the 1948/49 season. The Neustadt team celebrated their greatest success in the first league year when they brought 1. FC Kaiserslautern the only defeat of the season 2-0. The home game against TuS Neuendorf in the 1949/50 season, which VfL won 10: 1, was also spectacular .

The relegation from the league was followed a year later by relegation to the third division. The residents of Neustadt also had to leave these down in 1966.

In 1982 VfL returned to the league for the last time, where they only stayed for a year. After relegation to the association league, relegation to lower divisions followed after five years. Since then, the club has played in low-class amateur leagues. From 2006 the rise continues, initially unbeaten rise from the ninth-class district league Neustadt, then in 2007 the further rise in the district league. After three years, he returned to the Landesliga Ost in 2010. In 2012 he was promoted to the Association League Southwest , from which one had to relegate in 2015.
